Volkswagen Type 2 Radio: The Volks that you don’t drive

A Volkswagen Bus has now turned literally cute (yes, in size)! Unfortunately, it is neither for you to ride on nor to drive. Fortunately though, it is something you could have and bring around – the Volkswagen Type 2 Radio. This radio is truly an eye candy but more than its cuteness, it has a lot to offer – AM/FM radio, a digital clock, a mini LCD display, jacks or electrical sockets to connect it to an external audio source.

The Volkswagen van, the real one, hit the roads in 1950s and was also very popularly known as the “Transporter” in the 60s. Back then, no one for sure thought of exactly reducing it to a radio not until we came to this era of making everything small. But at least, with the new advanced and high-end cars and vans coming, we would not have to let go of the memory of the then trendy Volks!

The Volkswagen Type 2 Radio, perhaps because of its almost “historical” and aesthetic value, can be quite expensive at $129.99. Purchasing can be worth it if one is into collecting vintage replica items or for those who are simply fascinated with miniatures but as you can see, for functionality, it can be a less wise buy. IPods or ordinary radios can probably do better. But say what, this Volkswagen radio is no ordinary radio after all.

The Dreams Volkswagen Type 2 Radio can do more than playing music or radio programs – when it does not anymore function, it could work well on a display shelf as memorabilia. That, if it could make you feel any better of the purchase.
