Who ever said that the boom box is a part of the male species’ genetic code? Most speakers are designed to favor, if not to emphasize the masculine side of the world, only. What with the cuts and the colors looking like a must-have in every rock star’s room. Even classically styled boom boxes are purposely fashioned to be bulky and awkward making one think that a gym membership is required after your credit card number is punched in. But, a baby will blow those existing speaker-bias away.

Redefine Masculinity with iLive iB109
The iLive iB109 redefines the concept of masculinity and boom boxes altogether. It ends the male-centric design of these beat-blasters by emulating on of the most emasculating objects ever thought-of by humanity – the purse. Its flexible strap, glossy finish and iPod-matching color schemes bring out the inner Hannah Montana in you, warding off any unwanted patriarchal bias.

new technology (MP3) with old radio (dial)
Do not buy this item if you a reason you like it is that it comes with a radio. The radio is not digital, but oldschool dial (doesn't make sense to me to mix new technology MP3 speaker with old technology dial radio and didn't even know they still made radios with dials). I returned this item because of this. Then, after returning item found out that the one my sister bought after only 6 months stopped working and will not dock, charge or play her ipod. I suggest looking for a different model if looking for speaker and/or radio.

Happy daughter
This item was purchased for my daughter, who is very very happy with the item. She is always walking around with her earbuds in her ears, well since receiving this item she doesn't complain of her ears hurting from having the earbuds in her ears so much and she likes the fact that it charges the ipod while she is listening to it.
I want to thank you for such a good product and if I need another one I will definitely look you up for another.

a great product for a small room
i bought this for my 4year old daughter. We'd been using a cd player for music since she was born and it finally went kaput. So, I decided to use my ipod in her room instead of buying another cd player and look for an ipod system. I was surprised to find anything at this price point, even more surprised that it looked cute (and in pink, her self-declared favorite color, of course), and I was just delighted when I pulled it out of the box and it felt solid & sturdy. I was worried from other reviews it would feel cheap & flimsy. I plugged it in & set it up at her constant urging, and we listened to music on it no problems. It even sounded better than her cd player and just as good as our iLive player that was . It is not feature rich and does not come with a remote. The carrying handle is sturdy and it's a nice compact size. It also has a dial that allows you to support your ipod dependent on its thickness. It plays the radio, but we'll never use that. You can turn it off so that your ipod is not left charging. You can play/skip music using the controllers on the boom box instead of just usin the ipod dial. And the volume knob is on the side. And, in the end, the ipod is actually more sturdy/reliable than cd's ever were. They were always getting knocked loose or scratched, etc. They can control the ipod dial w/o having to hold it in their destructive, little hands and I'm not nervous about it getting ruined. I should clarify, though, that removing it from the music station and carrying it around the house is strictly forbidden because it is "mommy's ipod." If my son's cd player breaks tomorrow, I will buy this same product for his room.

Broke after 2 months??
I had a family member buy this ipod boombox for my youngest daughter for Christmas. She has the 60G ipod. After only using it in her room, and playing it during the night while she slept, it just stopped working. By 'stopped working' I mean the docking portion no longer charges, and it the ipod has to placed on the prong just right or it cuts off. The slightest movement in the room it's in will cause it to turn off. The radio works, but I didn't buy it just for a working radio. I'm highly disappointed with how this and mysteriously other ipod docking radios (my iHome lasted 6 months, my oldest daughter's GPX iLive only works with nano and nothing else) have prongs that are flimsy, and quit working after minimal use.
I'm not sure why the 'portable Music System' iLive costs less than the 'GPX-branded' iLive either. The + difference is substantial considering the results are the same from my experience.
A space-saving, pretty-colored, radio...but not the space-saving, pretty-colored, reliable, ipod docking radio that she wanted.

iLive portable docking
We were disappointed in the quality of the docking station. Also the shipping charge was more than the item.
But aside from looking all so adorable and making you identify with Paris Hilton for a moment, the iLive iB109 will cost you a lot less. It includes an AM/FM radio, a universal iPod dock and an aux input. Plus, the lifetime guarantee that your little brother will never have the slightest interest in playing and messing with it.
