Its Waterproof dude!
Ive had this camera for a few years. Takes decent pictures not the best but I like it for the durabilty and water use. You basically dont have to worry about it, it takes a lickin.
I love using it in the water and everyone always freaks out because they don't realize its waterproof. Then I tell them that all camera's are and they try jumping in the pool with their camera and their camera gets totally destroyed and then I say, 'just kidding'

Did not work underwater too long.
I have to agree with some of the negative reviews out there. I've had this camera for a year and a half. Never tried to use it underwater until this past week, when we went snorkling at Hanauma Bay. Seemed to take a couple of pictures before it died. Didn't appear to have any water go into it, but can't even get it to turn on.
Will probably get an underwater casing for my Canon in the future.
Too bad, the "ruggedness" is an aspect that really sets they Olympus apart from all the other cameras out there. Maybe one of the newer ones will work better.
broke - let in water
I kept this camera in my kayak vest pocket. Despite my ensuring that its doors were seated and its gaskets sealed, the camera leaked, letting water into the LCD screen, lens, and flash chamber. I did not find it rugged and I do not consider it durable.
Third time in the water and it leaked!
I thought this thing was awesome and didn't fear taking it anywhere with me. Even lost it in a creek while tubing and found it behind a rock under the water in a rapid. But, my hopes are dashed. Took it snorkeling and somehow it filled with water! Everything was closed on it and there wasn't any sand in the seals! Oh well. Might give the deeper water version a try if the reviews look better, but seeing how it's apparently not covered for water damage, why risk it?
